We are part of a growing tribe of ‘new rurals’ who left ‘busy lives of doing’ to embrace a local rural way of ‘being’

Wanting a different slower way of life, growing our own food and going back to nature, we moved from the city to the country and turned this dream into a reality. So creating this SANCTUARY – where warmth, familiarity, comfort and a sense of belonging come together, and we want to share this with you.

The Experience

Nestled amongst ancient Poplar trees and streams, a spring fed dam and fynbos covered mountains the SONDAGSKLOOF CABINS are situated on a small farm in the beautiful Sandies Glen Valley, 20km from the village of Stanford in the Overberg.

3 bespoke wooden self catering cabins with serene interiors designed to ‘cocoon’ and offer you a retreat from your busy life. No TV and limited cellphone and Wi-Fi reception, only if you choose to engage, your only distraction is birdsong and the rustle of the breeze in the Poplars.

The Cabins

These Larch & Spruce bespoke wooden cabins blend into the surrounding Poplar trees, were built using sustainable methods and rely on solar energy and spring water. Interiors are furnished in natural materials, slouchy leather sofa’s, beautiful rugs, comfortable beds, and a wood burning fireplace creating the ultimate cocooning space in which to retreat.

The living room/kitchen has a fridge freezer, a gas hob & is fully equipped for gourmet cooking, and the bathroom has a large walk in shower with sliding doors opening onto the deck. Fluffy towels, cozy gowns, cotton percale bed linen and goose down duvets ensure your ultimate comfort. Sliding doors open the entire front of the cabin onto the deck, blurring the lines between indoors and outdoors, bringing nature in, and wooden shutters offer complete privacy.

On the deck a comfy daybed, furnishings and your own private woodfired hot tub complete the picture. Each cabin has a braai or firepit for outdoor cooking – and all wood is supplied.
