Nestled amongst ancient Poplar trees, a spring fed mountain dam & fynbos covered mountains, Sondagskloof Chalets are situated in the beautiful Sandies Glen Valley, 20km from the quaint village of Stanford in the Overberg. With only 3 units available for rental, it is both intimate & tranquil. Each unit has its own fire pit outside for cooking & stargazing, & wooden hammocks are strung between trees for afternoon snoozes.
These stylish self catering units were built with respect for the environment, using sustainable methods & rely on solar energy & water from our mountain spring. All three are equipped with luxurious & stylish furnishings, cotton percale linen, towels, & chef-style galley kitchens
A big wooden sun deck with braai facilities overlooks the natural dam & is perfect for sunbathing, swimming, reading & meditating.
the vlei chalet
Built from Larch & Spruce wood, this sunny, beautifully appointed 2 bed-roomed chalet is perfect for family accommodation. Big sliding doors face the Poplar forest bringing nature in & is backed by a spring fed dam.
Main Bedroom has a queen size bed & the 2nd, a double bunk bed. There is a stylishly furnished open plan Living room/ kitchen, fully equipped with under counter fridge & gas hob. The bathroom opens onto the deck with sliding door for an indoor/outdoor shower experience.
We’re taking ‘Forest bathing’ to a whole new level and all our cabins now have their own wood fired hot tubs and indoor fireplaces (Wood supplied).
We take the utmost care in following Covid cleaning protocol – all soft furnishings are replaced between guests and we sanitize all surfaces carefully. Furthermore our staff live on the farm so there is minimum interaction with others.
We supply pantry staples like filter and instant coffee, tea, rusks, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper, as well as firewood and lighters. We supply a braai grid and a potjie for outdoor cooking in your firepit, and there is also a Weber, but bring own charcoal if you want to use that. We welcome our guests into our organic veggy garden to pick your own for your meals here on the farm.
CANCELLATION POLICY
We will do full refund if you cancel with 14 days notice. We are also happy to postpone your dates to a more convenient time should it be required. Otherwise we will immediately advertise the timeslot on social media, and if re-sold, will refund (so far 100% success rate)
the forest chalet
Built from Larch & Spruce cured to a dark finish, this secluded one bed-roomed chalet blends into the surrounding Poplar forest nestled next to a winter running stream.
A King size bed, a luxurious bathroom with sliding door onto deck for a indoor/outdoor shower experience. The living-room/ kitchen is stylishly furnished & is fully equipped with under counter fridge & gas hob. Big picture windows & sliding doors open onto the deck, drawing the peaceful forest inside.

the poplar chalet
Built from Larch & Spruce & cured to a dark finish blending into the surrounding poplars next to a gurgling stream. Big sliding doors open the entire front of the chalet onto the big deck, blurring the lines between indoor & outdoors. Custom made sliding shutters can seal you off & offer complete privacy from the world. The large deck boasts a fireplace/braai built into a stone wall, big comfy daybeds & a fire heated plunge pool.
The interior is stylishly furnished with custom made furniture, beautiful rugs, a slouchy leather sofa & a wood burning closed combustion fireplace creating the ultimate luxurious space in which to retreat. The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, a gas hob & is fully equipped for gourmet cooking. Sliding wooden doors separate the living room from the queen size bedroom which then leads into the open plan bathroom with a large shower & a double vanity. Fluffy towels, cotton percale bed linen & a goose down duvet completes the picture.

Bird “noise ” & the rustle of the breeze through the poplars – your only distraction. With no TV or cellphone reception you can truly escape & reconnect with yourself & your loved ones.
We offer incredible stargazing, swimming in a pristine spring fed dam, easy country rambles, and an abundance of mountain bike trails through the valleys fynbos covered mountains.
